Types of Bulk Soil

Lawn Soil: Lawn soil is specifically designed to promote strong root development and increase lawn density. It is a balanced, nutrient-rich blend, often made of topsoil, compost, and sand to ensure proper drainage. Lighter than garden soil, it is ideal for lawn repairs and leveling, seeding, or topdressing. For sod installation, a base of 4 to 6 inches of soil is recommended.

Horticultural Topsoil: Topsoil is screened surface soil, usually sifted once or twice. It is often rich in organic matter and free of large debris.

Horticultural soil is the most complete and nutrient-rich option. It can be used for nearly all types of landscaping projects. It provides good structure, retains just the right amount of moisture, and contains sufficient nutrients to support plant growth.

It typically contains compost, manure, soil mix, sometimes sand, and composted organic matter. It is the best choice for flower beds, shrubs, flowers, and landscaping, as it strongly supports growth.

Garden Soil: Garden soil is a versatile mix used as a base for most outdoor plantings. It is generally composed of black soil and compost. It is suitable for vegetable gardens, perennials, shrubs, and most plants that prefer rich, well-drained soil.

Flower Bed Soil: This type of soil is enriched to support the growth of flowers, perennials, and annuals. It generally contains more organic matter than garden soil and retains moisture better, helping plants bloom longer. It contains compost, peat moss, and composted bark.

Sandy Soil: This bulk soil type is very light and highly draining. It is suitable for projects where fast drainage is required, such as under pavers, around pools, or for plants that do not tolerate standing moisture.

Fill Soil: Primarily used as a base for landscaping projects, fill soil is ideal for filling, leveling, or raising ground levels, or as a foundational layer before adding richer soil (lawn soil or horticultural soil) on top to ensure proper growth.
